On March 26, 2020, the World Health Organization announced the members of the Strategic and Technical Advisory Group of Experts (STAGE) for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (MNCAHN). Drs. Dilys Walker and Peter Waiswa, collaborators on and Co-Principal Investigators of the East Africa Preterm Birth Initiative, were selected to join the newly formed Committee.
STAGE was established by the Director-General of the World Health Organization in 2019 to provide guidance on the work of WHO. STAGE will provide strategic and technical advice to WHO on matters relating to maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition and will advise WHO on global priorities and emerging issues for which policies, strategies, recommendations and intervention packages should be developed or updated, with a view to helping Member States in reaching relevant Sustainable Development Goal targets.
