FIGO Regional Congress
We are delighted to welcome you to our FIGO Africa Regional Kigali Congress (Virtual Event with a Hub in Kigali).
FIGO (International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics), the African Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AFOG), and the Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RSOG) came to the conclusion in June that due to the risks associated with the COVID-19 crisis, holding a successful face to face only event in December 2020 would not be possible.
Due to ongoing global uncertainty, we have decided to move the majority of the event onto our online platform. This means that the FIGO Africa Regional Kigali Congress is primarily a virtual event, with the majority of presentations being delivered online to an audience that will have a high proportion of delegates joining us remotely.
The shift to a mostly virtual event means that our commitment to providing an enriching and informative event is guaranteed, despite any restrictions due to COVID-19. By using virtual event technology, we will be able to deliver an inclusive, comprehensive and innovative congress. We are excited to show you our virtual platform, which will also include opportunities for networking and engagement.
For those who are willing and able to travel to Kigali, we will be hosting a local Hub in Kigali, where attendees can gather to watch and discuss the virtual content together, streamed on screens, as well as engaging with some Kigali based programme components.
FIGO is committed to providing global leadership for the gynaecology and obstetrics community, and we believe that by hosting the event primarily online, we can reach a wider community and provide much needed support to our members. Even though we will be going mostly virtual, FIGO wants to reaffirm that this is still an Africa focused Regional Congress, with the majority of speakers and participants coming from the region.
