Isabella Polese
Isabella (Izzy) is a recent graduate of UCSF's Master's program in Global Health Sciences, dedicated to achieving health access among resource denied communities locally and globally. During her undergraduate years at UC Berkeley studying Public Health and Global Poverty, she developed her passion for global heath through engagement with local justice work for unhoused individuals as well as advocacy and economic development work with 1st Nation communities around the U.S. These experiences highlighted the value of community engagement and empowerment in achieving collective goals and inspired her to prioritize such partnerships in her work. For Izzy's graduate capstone thesis, she conducted an impact evaluation with Organic Health Response, a small community-led NGO on Mfangano Island, Kenya. This provided Izzy with experience in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies and aided the organization through necessary structural changes. She is now working for the Preterm Birth Initiative on communications and dissemination of our East Africa trial results.
