Biography

Melissa Morgan Medvedev, MD, PhD, MSc, is an associate professor of pediatrics and faculty affiliate in the Institute for Global Health Sciences at the UC San Francisco. Her research focuses on the development and evaluation of evidence-based interventions to improve maternal, neonatal and child health outcomes in low-resource settings. She is a co-principal investigator of the OMWaNA study and co-investigator on the project, Co-Developing and Disseminating an Investment Case for Small and Sick Newborn Care in Uganda. Melissa received her MD from the University of Texas, Houston and completed training in pediatrics and neonatology at UCSF. She obtained her MSc in Global Health Science from the University of Oxford and her PhD in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, where she was awarded the annual Woodruff Medal. She is an alumna of the Biodesign Innovation Fellowship at Stanford University and the UCSF Preterm Birth Initiative Fellowship.
