University of Zimbabwe – UCSF Clinical Trials Unit (UZ-UCSF CTU)

UZ-UCSF CTU, a partnership between the University of Zimbabwe and UCSF with support from NIH and other sponsors, conducts high-quality Phase I-IV clinical trials on the control and prevention of HIV/AIDS, particularly among women, adolescents and pregnant and breastfeeding women. The CTU collaborates with four NIAID-affiliated HIV/AIDS Networks: Advancing Clinical Therapeutics Globally (ACTG); International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials Network (IMPAACT);  HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN); and HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN).  Our research includes studying oral, intravaginal and injectable PrEP formulations for HIV prevention, strategies to prevent mother-to-child transmission, and HIV remission in neonates with intensive antiretroviral therapy.
